Unlike the big box stores or some so called “specialty retailers” we choose our brands and models by employing the following criteria:

Be reputable
Demonstrate longevity by being in business for at least 10 years.
Be Innovative, so this way if they are unable to stay in business for whatever reason another larger or more successful company will be willing to purchase them instead of letting them go out of business.
Be the best in their product category.
Have a live person answering the phone at their technical support department.
Provide prompt response on warranty parts orders.
Be responsive to customer needs, which means go above and beyond to keep their customers happy.

Here is an example: Recently there was a Company that only met the All Around Fitness criteria (a) and (b) but not the others, and therefore, All Around Fitness chose not sell that brand. This Company was the Ironman brand or also known as Keys Fitness. This brand was sold through Costco, Play It Again Sports and some other big box stores. The Company experienced financial hardship so as a result they were faced with the choice of either selling or closing their doors. Unfortunately they were forced to file bankruptcy and closed their doors.

Eventually Star Trac purchased the name Ironman during the bankruptcy proceedings, but Star Trac only provides support for the most recent models. So if you purchased your equipment prior to November of 08, even though you thought you had a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame and 2 years parts and 1 years labor, well… you don’t. The Federal Court under the bankruptcy protection voided all warranties. So now if you need your equipment repaired you are forced to buy your own parts from Treadmilldoctor.com while supplies last. Treadmilldoctor.com is the company that purchased all the parts from the bankruptcy proceedings.

To make the matters worse some of these Ironman machines were recommended by Consumer Reports Magazine. Even Consumer Reports does not employ the same discriminating process in their product selection and recommendation as we do.

So as you can see it is easier, but not wiser to blindly trust the big box stores and mistrust the small business owner. Easier because you are already their purchasing meat and veggies so why not a treadmill! The big box stores have done a superb job at making it convenient for you to purchase from them but their main objective is their bottom line.

All Around Fitness is accustomed to being scrutinized and placed under the microscope by the public. As a result we are very careful at which companies we represent. For some reason the big box stores don’t employ the same strategy and often unwisely sell brands that give them the most profit margins.
